About Bonnie

Hi all, Welcome to my sweet blog!!

My name is Bonnie and I’m a foodie who combines my love for Food, travel, and Events into one passion in my life. I have always been a bit obsessed with photographing my food and discovering new places to try while I was either travelling or in Toronto particularly with desserts or sweets. I have always prefer my desserts and sweets over any type of food!! I love my sweets, I got quite of a sweet tooth that I can’t resist! If I could have dessert as my first course I would lol!! Isn’t desserts the best part of any meal? Who doesn’t love desserts?

So I wanted a place to share my photos and my food and travel experiences so that’s why I’m here with this sweet & now healthy blog sharing my love for desserts & sweets along with my new food and travel experiences with everyone.

These days I follow a dairy free diet. At the end of 2016, I developed a food sensitivity/intolerance to dairy products. With this recent development, I have discovered new foods with non-dairy products. I found that these days it is a bit easier for people with food allergies or Vegans to find substitutes. I’m now “part” or if you want to call it semi-Vegan (as I still enjoy meat products just no dairy products), but I do enjoy Vegan plant-based food and learning the Vegan lifestyle, which learning more of a healthy lifestyle, but still being able to enjoy my love for desserts and sweets with non-dairy products.

Besides my love for desserts, I’m also a Starbucks girl because love their refreshing & delicious Teavana ice tea collection!! I’m a tea drinker too (my fave is Earl Grey tea) and I love Ice tea any time of the year!! As well, I also love bubble tea, which isn’t a surprise since I love green tea and tea in general!

Two weird things about food people hear from me are that: I don’t eat spicy food and I don’t like chocolate. Shocking I know I don’t like chocolate, I get weird looks all the time when I tell people esp. as I love sweets and I’m a girl, but it’s true. I have no explanation why I don’t like it, only that even when I was young I didn’t like it. I guess I’m just weird in a good way. 🙂

What I love about Events is that it incorporates both my love for food and Events. I love attending culinary food festivals where as a foodie, I’m able to expand my passion for food and learn from different chefs and vendors about food. This is also where I discover new restaurants, trends, or different foods to expand my knowledge about food where then I share with everyone here on my blog.

I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. I currently still reside in Toronto with my family consisting of my 2 younger sisters and a proud Auntie to my 7 year old niece. Living in the city like Toronto, it offers me a variety of cultural and diversity types of food options that is why I enjoy living the city life to indulgence my food crave & preferences.

When I was younger, I was always interested in food and trying out new restaurants along with my love for photography. Taking photos of food came natural to me. I always loved exploring new cities and new places as a traveller.

As a foodie and upcoming blogger, my professional career is more of an opposite of the love I have for food as I studied Business Management and Marketing in University. Then worked as an Administrative Assistant for several years in the Real Estate industry while I started this blog. As well, I studied and completed my certificate in Events Management at George Brown in 2014 as my passion for Events and Food became more clear what I wanted to pursue towards my career while still working as an Admin Assistant.

I’m happy that now I’m able to take my passion for food, events and travel to the next level sharing them with people (my readers) through this blog and expressing what I love to talk about.

Here are some of my other interests besides food, shocking I know lol:

  • I love travelling as mentioned before, still haven’t gone overseas yet and it is one of my goals to travel to Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand
  • Huge tennis fan, I love watching tennis, but don’t ask me to play lol, I’m not that good at it lol!
  • Baseball fan as well, Blue Jays fan of course since I live in Toronto!
  • Some sports I actually enjoy: cross country skiing, swimming, and playing miniature golf
  • I love scrapbooking!
  • Shopping of course, which girl doesn’t love shopping!
  • I’m a bit obsessed with my boy bands, they are still in everyone knows that right?, can’t you tell I’m a 90’s girl…:) Just remember don’t get confused I’m a Backstreet Boys fan! 🙂
  • I have a guilty pleasure of watching my realty t.v shows and I love watching lots of cooking shows too like Masterchef, Top Chef, FoodNetwork Star, Hell’s Kitchen, Big Brother and etc.

I am a member of Food Bloggers of Canada community, which is a community for Canadian food bloggers to connect, network and find resources to expand their blogging knowledge. I became a member as of August 2015. Ever since joining this welcoming community of Canadian bloggers, I have expanded my network and learning more in this blogging industry.

Previous member of Gastropost from the National Post Toronto as they have closed down the community which was sad to hear. It was a community where food lovers complete a weekly mission and share it with the Gastropost community. My food photos was published in their newspaper several times, which I was honored to have so.

I love sharing my food and travel experiences and the food events I attend to with people and if you’d like to share some of your thoughts or feedback with me or a new place for me to try, I’d love to hear from you. You can leave your comments below or in any one of my posts!!

-Sweet B.
